Jodie Grillmeier is a Melbourne-based photographer and visual artist whose practice documents the intricate relationships between people, animals, and their shared environments. Through fine art documentary photography, she captures the dedication of wildlife carers, veterinarians, and conservation groups protecting Australia’s native species. Her portraits also reveal rich histories held within museum specimens and archival collections, giving renewed presence to endangered and extinct animals

Grillmeier’s work highlights the essential connection between conservation and cultural heritage, demonstrating how living wildlife and preserved collections together raise awareness for biodiversity. She has been a finalist in the prestigious Olive Cotton Award for Photographic Portraiture in 2013, 2015, and again in 2025, and her work was showcased in Exhibition Photo 2024.

She is set to present a solo exhibition at the City Library Gallery in 2026.
